I am hoping that something will pull together as time goes by but if it does it will be small. Most vendors, performers, etc. have most of 2009 booked. I know my schedule is filling up fast with both the Neville Companye and Vikings of Vinholm. I have at least one weekend a month, and several with 2 - 3 weekends full of events. Not much time left for home/farm repairs (which I have lots to do). It is possible that an event could be pulled together in Bucksport in conjunction with Ft. Knox. But this is just in the planning stages and seems a bit more reasonable for 2010. So I hope to see some of you @ NH in May. Doug S. I didn't even know there was a faire last year because, alas, I have not been paying attention to NERennies for a long, long time. My wife and I would be eager to volunteer in some capacity if you get off the ground again. We were somewhat involved in the new Virginia Renfaire (varf.org) (cast and directing staff) in the years before we moved to Maine in 2005 and have been missing the rennie experience a great deal (time and money have prevented us from visitng any of the further flung NE faires). Having been involved in the VaRF in its fomrative years, as it struggled to find a permanent home and an audience, I understand the pain you're going through. A word of advice: please change the website. My wife and I were really excited to see that there was a new Faire in Maine, only to be disappointed when I saw news of this year's postponement at the Neville Companye site.

IT is owned by the person who is selling the property where the fair was held in 2008. That person will not allow anyone else to have access to the web page. Additionally there is an add in the Renaissance magazine for the first 3 weeks in August @ the same location. However, there are no people involved in this fair that I know of. Last month I received lots of emails & phone calls asking about the fair this year since it is still posted on the web & magazine. I emailed the owner but have not received a response in over a month. There is very much political turmoil associated with the history of this fair going back to it's origin. It is quite unfortunate since a ren faire could do well in Maine. IF you wish there are lots of other events including SCA, Neville Companye, Vikings of Vinholm, and other events, demos, etc. Originally I was booked 2 to 3 weekends a month, but have had to scale back my involvement for issues in the above posting. IF you are interested in the SCA and other groups let me know through "private" email and I will send you to the URLs. Doug S. It will just make it all the harder to get attention when you are able to get off the ground again. I'd guess a name change for the fair would be in order when you do. Not so interested in the SCA, but the Renaissance and Midaeval events you and the Companye take part in interest me. It's been three years and I miss the opportunity to wear my 20 lbs of upholstery fabric and my characters. I'll be in touch.

If it *is* actually happening, I am thinking that the people running it need some lessons in organization and communication! They will not allow other ppl to help in organization. ![]() I am also in the Neville Companye, and although originally contacted, they have not confirmed anything. But we have the weekends set aside. The last organizer was partner with the owner of the stables and they ended up $9K in the red for 2008. I tried to organize stuff last year but did not have the finances to back the event. The bottom line is that no one knows for sure if this event will be on/off. It is slated for the first 2 weekends in August. Sorry I don't have any more news when I hear something I'll post it. ![]() BTW my wife lost her job & my work has been cut 20% so we are just getting by and not doing events unless they are close & inexpensive. Last time I had talked to her, (the owner of the stable) she was about to go in for some form of major surgery. At that time she did not know the future of the Faire. I will agree with Fornbern that the people running the faire and stable, don't seem to know what is going on. If no one has it, I might be able to dig through my contacts list and find her contact information. The Dude Abides
