Our Loss...
Our community has lost a great man, a wonderful friend and someone who meant so much to so many.

He was the reason I joined the Rogues, before meeting him, my experience with Rogues was limited to the message board, it was a less than positive one. But upon meeting him I saw what a Rogue could actually be. And I have tried ever since to live up to the example he set.

Most of the Keith you see at Faire is due to his influence. He encouraged me to be more active and interact more with people. So those of you who say "God, can't you get Keith to shut up." have him to blame.

He lit the faces of many a lady with rose and smooth line, he lead the rogueings with a confidence and cocksure attitude. I have no idea how we will ever replace him, in that respect.

He always had your back and if you ever needed anything he was there.

He was a Rogue, a Pirate, a friend to all.

He was my friend, and part of my family, and I will miss him very much.

He was Sarum, keeper of Head, Drunken Bastard Stevedore of the Grave Dancer.

NE Rennies Fundraiser Dinner
The long awaited details......
SUNDAY - March 9, 2008 12pm

For this year's dinner we have decided to change things up a bit. First off we have a change of venue. Though
The Portsmouth Brewery was *fantastic* last year, we thought we would give a different region a try this year. (Honestly we are contemplating an alternating back and forth sort of deal to accommodate more members.)
So this year's event will be held at the The Northampton Brewery in Northampton, MA making it that much easier for all of you NY, CT, MA and VT people to join us!

More changes for this year include making the event garb optional, ordering off the menu instead of doing a buffet and depending on number of people attending we may well just take up a section of the main restaurant instead of getting a private room.

Additionally, since we are nixing the buffet and not covering a room charge we will *not* be selling advance tickets. However please do note that this IS still a fundraiser so we *will* be doing raffles (and looking for donations), these raffles will be our only means of raising funds.

Lastly, even though we are not selling tickets we still need a headcount for the reservation and the sooner you let me know that you are coming the more smoothly things will go! In addition to posting here Please email me, kaleaanne at gmail dot com, with NER Dinner in the subject line. Be sure to give your name/forum name and how many adults/children including yourself will be attending. The sooner we can get this count to the restaurant the better off we will be.

Please let me know by February 22 if you will be attending. (You don ’t need to email if you are NOT coming.)
If you are interested in donating anything for the raffles you can contact me at the same address. Also, feel free to ask anyone you know that may want to donate, you can pass along my contact info. Look forward to seeing you all there!

Wicked Faire comes roaring back!
Hello!
I bid you greetings from the Wicked Winter Renaissance Faire III: A Renaissance Faire...With Tentacles.

If you're not familiar with us--we're a miniature (all-indoor and heated!) Renaissance Faire, complete with cast, story, feasting, swordfights, Renaissance entertainers, artisans, knights, wenches, rogues...Pirate s...Ninja...ins ane Lovecraftian Cultists...
--Yes. We're not your average Faire.
...what we do is take as much Renaissance Festival as we can find and fit, and then layer on top of it all manner of extra and additional fun--performers and musicians, themes and games and opportunities to meet and find further insane folk who'd go to a Faire in Jersey in the middle of winter. Every year, we add something new--last year, Pirates and Ninja, and this year, the coming of H.P. Lovecraft's Elder Gods.

You might have heard we died. If that's true, then we're officially Undead, because we've come back! The venue with whom we signed a contract, a year ago, was taken over in November by new owners who first ignored us, and then tried illegally to get rid of us. But we're not the sorts to give up without a fight -- we're staying, and we're going to have the best revenge: a fantastic event!

But we need your help. Thanks to the actions of the Holiday Inn of Edison, we lost very nearly two months of planning and marketing. We're a bit obsessed, so we still had months and months of work in the can. But we're not too proud to admit when we need to call on our secret weapon: YOU.

The hotel called us "THOSE kind of people". Well, I know this about our kind of people: when you knock us down, we get up better than ever. The Wicked Faire has the honor of catering to people whom some might consider the misfits, the unorthodox, the unusual, the different, and the strange. And "those" people are TOUGH.

We need your HELP. Any other year, we'd ask you to come to the event just because it's a hell of a lot of fun. This year, we'll admit: we've taken a big financial hit with all the troubles and legal fees the hotel's caused us to incur. We need your support. But MUCH MORE - we want your help to help us make it an INCREDIBLE event! We're looking for more folks who'd like to come and get into the swing of things, to be costumed if they want, to secretly be cultists... or even people who don't want to participate, but are just going to enjoy; everyone who comes and feels good will help make this event more and more fun for all involved.

Come to Faire!
Tell your friends!!
Buy a hotel room, if you can afford it and are inclined--we want to take over the WHOLE hotel to make sure we have that hotel management completely outnumbered.

THIS is the time. This year's Faire will happen, absolutely--but without your help, there may not be a next year. Come check us out! Our headlining performers include Voltaire and Daniel Greenwolf, among many others; we have a vast array of entertainers; we work like mad to show you a GREAT time.

Check us out!

Wicked Faire woes
Wicked Faire Troubles!

On Wednesday Dec 19th, after months of trying arrange a meeting, Jeff Mach met with the management staff at the venue where Wicked is to be held. Jeff went into this meeting ready to discuss all the details of what they needed for setup. That was not the meeting that the management staff had planned however. Apparently in the 10 months since the original contract was signed, the venue had been sold and the new owners had no intention of honoring the contract. The reasons of them not honoring the contract are probably not something that I should discuss here, since the issue is in the hands of the lawyers now.

Jeff is looking into his options now. We will keep you informed of any changes in the situation. In the meantime go to the the Wicked Faire forum and show Jeff some love!

Battle Report
From the letters of Captain Thighbiter:

OK so the Barbarians won.

BUT the Pirates gave a good account of themselves. I particularly want to give honorable mention to:

Kevin, the Irish Pirate, who, in true pirate form turned on his barbarian bretheren at the last possible moment, in fact as soon as the last gun fired, and took out a number of their screaming smelly hoarde. For which he was killed most horribly several times over.
Status: Honorary Brigand

Lady Reddy, who, in the planned sneak attack from the rear of the field, from the Wenches Hostel, took out the vaunted and much touted Matteo.   With a shot from the back. IN the back actually, also in true pirate form. Eye witness accounts have her vaulting over the hay barriers, screaming as she attacked.
Status: Hororary Brigand

Jon, for leading the above sneak attack and removing several more of the hoarde.
Status: Pirate Legend

Management of CTRF , who, after receiving enlightenment, in the form of several bribes during the course of the day, joined the ranks of the Pirates, with long sword and shields.
The shield line held as long as pssible and they died most nobley.
Status: Please don't fire us, we didnt know it was going to get this out of hand

Sneaky Pete ( Doug) who, like Nelson, ran straight at 'em, was the first to draw fire and was immediately killed several times over for his efforts.
Status Honorary Brigand

The Fair Fairies - who joined up with pirates, to seek out personal vengence againts H&SE.
Status; Now satisfied

THe Bawdy Buccaeers, without who, this little skirmish would not have taken place. Capt Boyle is to be commended for his efforts in making flour bombs, provding flintlock squirt guns and sundry weapons. Truley Scrumptious ( Louisa) COULD have been more aggressive, instead of kissing all the opponents she came upon, but gave her all none the less.
Status: Pirate Gods and Legends of the Sea

Jamie from Mountain Rouges, who fought valiantly and hard, but was killed in the end.
He was the Captains leige man, guarding my flank, until I was removed from the fight by a errant arrow.
Status: Honorary Brigand and Liegeman for Life

Hitting and Stabbing Emporium, who fought most well and competently, and for the most part honestly. Jesus, who knew they had so many friends??    And for playing along with this little diversion.

Also mentioned favorably are all the Pirates who broke bonds with thier clans etc, to fight along side of such a scurvey crew.

A BIG APPOLOGY TO THE CAST PERFORMING THE FINAL NUMBERS. To quote Ron Burgundy, from Anchorman " Wow, that really escalated quickly".

We would like to encourage all participants in the Battle of Lion's Field to post their account of the events of the battle.

Wait til NEXT YEAR!!!
